Default have some questions

hey, first time posting, its good to be here!

Got my first vette about a month ago
1986 4+3 Manual with 82K
its a beauty with chrome zr1 wheels.... when you first get a car the little stuff doesnt bother you, but now a month later it is starting to eat into my head so I hope you guys can anwser my questions

1) recently the seatbelt light keeps coming on and off like there is a loose connection, my seatbelt is plugged in and it has an annoying beep, this might not be a major concern but it just buggs me, so If anyone has an easy fix I would really appreciate some help
2) the oddometer when it clicked over to 83K must have hooked something cause the 8 changed to a 9.. is there a legal way I can change this back?

thats really all right now, ive always loved corvettes and im soo happy to own one, any help and hints you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the Forum.

I have an 86 too, but, I'm sorry, I can't help you with your two problems. Don't worry though, you'll have others and sooner or later you'll have one I can help you with. LOL

Welcome to the forum The first thing I suggest you do is buy a Helms Service Manual for your Vette. In it you'll find an electrical diagram that will lead you to your seat belt light problem. I too, think it's in the buckel or retractor where the microswitch is. As far as the odometer, I don't have a clue what to do. It will be interesting to see what happens when it changes again.

Welcom to the forum. the odometer can be accessed by removing the plastic bezel and then removing the four screws that hold the dash module. You then remove the dash module . It's a tight fit but with some manipulation it will come out. Remove the two wire harnesses. The odometer can then be accessed in the back of the dash module. Be very careful of the plastic bezel, as it is very brittle after 18 years and is easy to break. As they say, "it aint cheap".
I'm interested in why the odometer tripped two digits. Do you know the former owner or did you by from a dealer?
I can't help with the seat belt.

I knew the former owner, so the milleage is correct, it must have malfunctioned somewhere and instead of clicking over to 83,000, it went to 93,000 it sucks :( thnx for the help
