I want to know if anyone has any suggestion on performance mufflers for a 1993 Convertible. I am looking for something that sounds really nice and just one step above stock loudness. I just want to replace the mufflers only and keep the stock look. :smash: :smash: :chevy
(sigh) Sometimes I feel like a shill for Corvette Central, but I assure you I have no connection. I was at about the same point you describe and took a flyer on Corvette Centrals High Output Turbo mufflers, Part # 324162 @ $179 pr. I figured that if I didn't like them, I could toss them and wouldn't be out the $500/600 for a Stainless "name" brand. When they arrived at my front door, I was surprised at the rugged construction and weight of these mufflers. No tin here! The LT1 tips are a bonus because I didn't want to change the stock "look" of the Ruby. The test is in the sound and I'm as happy as a pig in slops on that score. I like the grumble at idle and roar at open throttle, yet they are not painfully loud in sixth gear on the open road. I have noticed that for many folks, if an item doesn't cost a bunch of $$ they don't even want to consider it. I don't stint a penny if my Corvette NEEDS something, but I got what I wanted and paid what I felt was reasonable. I'd do it over again tomorrow. And it was just a way to "personalize" my Vette without going radical, mainly because I want to keep my 40th anniversary coupe pretty much stock. At my age I don't want to hold the reins of a wild stallion; a pretty little filly suits me just fine. :yesnod:
Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the Corvette Centrals High Output Turbo mufflers, Part # 324162 or the Magnaflow muffler they sell # 324337. I wanted to know if anyone has heard both on a car.

Re: Performance Mufflers (Vettefan7)
We've got to find a way to get the search engine going for these new people! Glad to have you bud :seeya but the last exhaust thread ended up ugly!!!
The problem about exhaust on these cars is everyone has their own opinion. I dont think most of the performance exhausts make more or less HP than the others... I think they are all the same really. Just some differences with resonance and sounds/Looks.
Magnaflow looks great and sounds deep but some people say they resonate.
Most people I have heard say their Flowmasters resonate pretty bad.
I have never heard of anyone say their Corsa's resonated. Now that being said these are sometimes a hot potato.
B+B is a very good system and pricey.
Uhh theirs a few more. I went the custom route where I got my local muffler shop to weld me up a whole new exhaust with the items I choose seperately.
If I had to do it all over again I would go with a Corsa exhaust. That is my opinion. Good luck and use the search engine! You will find more than you can read on this subject! :seeya

I think I'm gonna get a pair of those. I went on a cruise this weekend and I've had about all I can stand of the brain-tickling resonance from my two chamber Flowmasters.

That was the old American Thunder system, it had resonance problems... The newer Force II system has no resonance and a nice sound... The only problem with Flowmaster systems is fitment but that's easy to work around...
Stay away from Flowmaster muffler only replacements... I tried that once with generic Flowmaster 40 series and it just killed me... That was a $200 mistake that only lasted a day...
