I have been searching the archives and discovered that not all CR2450 batteries will fit in the PKE transmitter. Do any of you guys know which common brands will fit, if any? Some members say that Duracell will not fit but Sanyo and Toshiba will fit. All I could find at the store yesterday was Energizer but I didn't buy it because I was not sure if it would be a correct match for the transmitter. I'm sure this would be much easier if my transmitter came with a battery in it to compare but, unfortunately, it didn't. The battery should also be Lithium and not Alkaline, correct?

Re: Battery for PKE transmitter? (KP Texan)
Wow, I didn't know batteries were so complicated. It is my understanding that all batteries with the same number are identical (size and type), no matter who makes them....that's the reason for having universal part numbers.
Having said that, I guess I'd better check my own PKEs when I get home; I bought a spare battery (Eveready) some months ago, now you've got me concerned about it fitting!
The batteries are all the same diameter but some brands are a little thicker. If you use a thicker brand it places more stress on the already weak plastic clasp that keps the two halves shut. Sooner or later (or if you give it a sudden shock like dropping it) the clasp will snap off.
If the catch snaps, like both of mine did, throw two wraps of black plastic electrical tape around it. Once it's on there you'll never know it's there. Just a thought.
If I cannot find a Sanyo or Toshiba, would it be worth it to order one off the internet then? I would really like to avoid breaking my transmitter if possible. Any other brands that you guys have had success with?
The orginal battery provided with the PKE transmitter is the (Hitachi) MAXELL CR2450 (one of which I hold in my hand). It has a recessed lip to fit into the remote properly. Finding the little buggers is the problem. I guess I'll have to spend a good bit of time surfing to see if I can find a source. It is a pretty hefty battery, fairly thick.
Boy, that was an interesting search! Took all of about 30 seconds! check out the following site: http://www.combatt.com_maxell_cr2032...attery_5_.html
Scroll down to the CR2450, click the picture to enlarge the package and you will see that a lip appears to be around the edge of the battery. Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'll order 10 of these (2 packs). If they are the proper battery, I'll find this thread and mail anyone that wants one for a measly $1. I'm losing money on the deal, but out of the kindness of my heart, I'm gonna find these little orphans a home! :D
I found the correct batteries at the jewelry store while I was having batteries put in a couple of watches. They had several brands. I don't remember which one fit.

yep, happened to me yesterday, i have a duracel in the thing now. But, I have another remote and have yet to change the battery, so I will get one of the other brands for that one! :banghead:
