Default Idea's for intake manifold..

I'm changing the intake manifold gasket soon so I figure I'd be better off changing the manifold while its off. Any suggestions on what I should get and from where. I was thinking about getting an LT4 manifold ported. How would this mate with stock LT1 heads?

The LT4's intake runners are 0.1" raised over the LT1, so that is going to add complications if the heads are not matched. Better off just porting your LT1 manifold to match your heads and gaskets.

Hopefully someone who knows the specifics will chime in, but other than the runners being raised, I don't know that the flow characterisitics warrant the switch-over.

I see....hmmm. Well I'll stick with the LT1 definately. Should I get it machined or would it be more cost efficient to buy one thats already done. I originally wanted to just go ahead and do the upper half of the motor because I found a decent heads up package. All tips/experiences/suggestions are appreciated. I've had my baby for a month now and shes leaking a little bit of oil, so I think thats her way of telling me she wants some new toys.

a suggestion... take a drill bit and carefully dimple the leading and trailing edges of the block. This will allow the RTV to bite into the block better. Do the same random type of thing to the intake, too. Better bite, less chance of blowout.

The LT1 flows pretty good, really.

If it was me, I would just to roller rockers and valve springs. Be done with it.

I was looking at comp cams pro magnum roller rockers the other day, they look real nice. So as of right now I'm running a bbk 52mm throttle body and the guy who had the car before me put some mufflers on it. I'm really looking for some more power and I'm hoping for an ati procharger this winter. Now I don't want to stray off topic, but as far as exhaust goes, would 3" be too much flow?

I'm learning as I go and I'm full questions so bear with me.

questions are good!

I would think a 3" exhaust would be way overkill for your car at this time. The backpressure would drop so much you would loose any scavaging. I would think 2.75" would be best.

Thats a lot of throttle body with an essentially stock motor. Go with 1.6:1 Rollers, new valve springs, push rods and life will be good.

Crane gold RRs are what was used on the LT4. You can get the springs-locks-retainers from GMPP. Just thought I'd throw this out there. :seeya
