87 Starter questions
Hi All,
I want to revisit the High Performance starter issue one last time. This is actually a new question. I am considering buying a Summit or Jegs hi pro starter (like the Tilton). I am wondering if the wiring to the starter is going to be too short for the new starter size. It would seem that it should not be a problem but thought I would check first before I spend big $$$ on the starter. I am running box stock exhaust from the heads to the tail pipes. However I do plan on getting a aftermarket front Y pipe and get rid of those crappy pre cats. I will (because VT requires it) use the final cat and stock cat back pipes.

I had no problem with a high torque starter on an 85. Assume wours would be the same. Be sure you check bendix to ring gear clerance. I had to add a shim to get mine correct.
