I took my seat out and tested the pump. The pump is good. I disconnected the three tubes that go up into the lumbar bags (sport seat) and gently fed in some compressed air. None of the three bags held any air :cry
I looked at TLD and Eckler's and did not seem to find them. Any sources out there anyone knows of?
Also, I see that it is a real PITA to get the seat back off. Looks like it is three bolts on the inside that are really tough to get to. Any tips to accessing these bolts to get the back seat cover off?
Is there a way to repair the bag? I did have the brief thought of trying tire flat stuff, but the bags are loosing so much air so quickly. They must be split or punctured big time so I'll forget about that.
Conemporary Corvette (link on my site) has lumbar bags. Since it's necessary to remove some of the hog rings and open the lower seat back you will also need a supply of hog rings along with plyers & cuter.
On my '88 it was necessary to pull the seats out, open the bottom rear of the back and separate the lower front seat back panel from the sides about 1/3-1/2 way up the back to install new bladders.
My bladders were so hardened from time and temp. cycling that even their air tube connectors were brittle. If you need to run any new air tubing I've read that aqurium tubing works well here.
Note, do NOT even think of removing the seat back from the seat assembly for this job (LOL). That was my first thought, till I got the seats out and examined the setup.
Yep hes right about cutting the hog rings on the bottom. I just replaced mine with the new leather. I got em from a corvette salvage place that had a bunch of NOS bladders he got from a parts buyout from some other corvette parts place. $75 a piece. Had the same stampings and markings as the origional. If your interested I will hunt up his number for you.
