Transmission woes...
Need some advice from the gurus. I think my transmission is down for the count, 1st and 2nd are fine but I've lost 3rd and OD; they slip completely. My guess is there is a separate clutch pack for 3rd and OD that has gone out.
1. Is there any chance something simple could be the cause? My guess is that an incorrectly set TV cable etc. would effect all gears and would not arise overnight? The vette has ran perfectly for a little over a year until this happened.
2. How nasty of a rebuild is the 700r4? I've seen a rebuild kit in the neighborhood of $350.00; is it any good?
3. Is it even worth rebuilding or is it better to buy a rebuilt / remanufactured unit with a warranty? I think I've seen them in the past for as low as $600.00. If this is the best option does anyone have some good, affordable reference to a rebuild shop?
4. Does anyone know of a good shop near Austin, TX in case I want to farm this out completely?

yeah mine did that exact same thing....tranny was toast. Fidn a used tranny in a salvage yard. I got one with 30,000 miles for 650 bucks.
