4+3 Reverse gear scratches

Default 4+3 Reverse gear scratches

Finally got her started and running reasonably well. Then went to put in reverse and could not. It scratches real bad. It goes in with the motor off but not with it running. I had the 4 speed professionally rebuilt and the OD is rebuilt too. Could it be the clutch hydraulics? TIA

sounds like you may need to bleed the clutch slave, also, Is all the linkage properly adjusted?

Who reassembled the 2 units together? There is a bunch of reverse parts between the 2 cases that have to go together right.

Its been about 4 years since the hydraulics have been bled...car has not moved in 2 years...

I assembled them together. Its something that since 1993 when I bought the car, that I've done a few times. I remember a reverse idler gear, fork, needle bearing set that goes on the OD shaft. How can you screw it up?

OK!!!! Just finished bleeding the slave cylinder and she drops into reverse purrfectly... Now I just have to figure the power steering....

Theres a couple of those needle bearing things and a spacer that a lot of people accidently drop into the 4-speed case. Oops! Glad to hear the bleeding worked. :cheers:
