Turbo Setup
Ok i am buying a c4 vette as we speak (i live in australia so getting one sourced by a company)
Now i used to drive a r33 gts-t Skyline which is turbo, now i love v8 but nothing beats the sound of a turbo hitting full boost.
So looks like turbo is going on the vette. Now i did abit of reading etc and i know someone has already done a setup on a c4 but i cant find the link does anyone have it.
My idea at the moment is to mount the turbo in an Topmount, possible using somesort of ***-spec turbo 2 start off with small but good power-range, because there is no lag on a v8 the turbo has to have a good power band i dont want it dieing out in top rpm range or losing power after it hits full boost. Also cuz of the no lag factor a TWIN setup seem the go
Also aftermarket ecu i am alittle confused over, im not sure wat i can use as i know ***-spec system like Apexi PowerFc will not work, but i there is a system in australia called WOLF3d which works for many cars so i might have alook at that or else maybe a MOTEC. The major problem with the ecu i see is that unless i know a workshop in perth (the state i live in) can tune it, i cant get it, will a remap ecu work?
Im not sure wat base the turbo will go on yet maybe L98 or Lt1 will the engine be able to hold lets say 2 400hp turbos? with stock cam etc?
Another problem is I/C (intercooler) the vette doesnt have an open mouth style body which means the Ic which is mainly Front Mount will have to be mount on top (like calleyway twin) but i will be using something like 600x300x100 or 700x300x100 depending on the turbo size etc. I was thinking maybe a V mount but im not sure if it will fit as the c4 doesnt have much room in the engine bay and the V mount system uses big cooler pushing down from the top.
I guess the other option is custum front-bar or hood (maybe use c/f 2 reduce weight at the same time)
Now if i use a ***-spec or hybrid type cooler (aus brand) i will be able to use a ***-spec bov or a gtr bov. if i dont then im not sure if any corvette with turbo setup use bov
alone with the I/c, bov, aftermarket ecu, i will need wastegate (depend on turbo) Dump pipes and Front Pipes from turbo, custum heads to the v8, custum intake system (airfilter or airpod with Stealth ram) and a basic design to work off
Basicly, it is brainstorm time can everyone put there input in please, any little thing will help
thanks mikey

Im kind of side when it comes to corvette parts, so help plz

also can most of the work be done by me? is the 350 a hard engine to work on or is it pretty basic
Turbo Timer - will not be a problem
Boost Controller - also shouldnt be a problem i was looking at running a HKS EVC, as it is rate as one of the best (or the best) EBC on the market, it is not setup for one type or car so should be able 2 fit onto a turbo c4 setup
i had problems with boost spiking on my r33 as i was just using a bleed value (was set to 0.5bar spiking to 0.7bar) but the EVC will hold boost and not spike so there is no dangour to blowing my engine which is some good news

Im guessing the 350chevy will be as strong or stronger than a rb25 (nissan skyline engine) as they can hold around 300to400rwhp on stock engine with boost lvl of around 12 to 16psi
Unless you are ready to drop some mad cash into having a big HP car then you are better off sticking with a vortech or Procharger kit. An 800hp car will need to have atleast $10-15,000 usd To get it to run. Do a search in the C4 forced induction on turbo and you'll get all the info you need. The stock engine can only take 6-8psi (~0.5 bar), maybe 8-10 intercooled.
When you get you’re wheels I recommend you join the Corvettes of W.A club.

With regard to turbocharging an L98 I know how you feel. After seeing the club presidents Corvette Calloway thunder by at an autokhana I just can't get the idea of turbocharging a L98 out of my head. The sound is like a combination of a deep throaty V8 growl mixed with whirring hiss of a harrier jet.
I have asked about the possibilities of fitting turbo chargers but have been told that although it can be done it is very expensive because of the difficulty of routing everything though. You would think that there would be something available like say a Calloway conversion, but no such luck.
Check out this link to a post I made regarding this particular issue:

And heres a link to the only supercharger I know of designed for a L98 engine:

cool
now i just have to sell my r33 skyline and i can grab the vette
You wont look back.
P.S If you are having any trouble finding a full comprehenisve insurance policy just try SGIO. I should warn you though that even though their policy is the best value for money IMO, remember that the premiums for a car like this will still be in the 4 digit per annum figure. That is the only expensive thing about owning a Corvette in my experance.
Also ask Wayne about the condition of the digital dash cluster. Getting those things properly repaired is VERY difficult.
Oh and dont forget to join the club.
