My left headlight has been acting stupid for a while now. There are times where it will not flip up all the way, but stay suspended, pointing down. Then I'll flip the switch again, and everything will be perfect. Am I looking at a new motor, new gears, any ideas?
This one's pretty easy to fix. There's a large plastic gear inside that ships from the factory with gel in it, this interfaces with a shaft that has a triangular cam shape. Over time, the gel breaks down, and the headlight flops. I fixed mine by putting short lengths of silicone tubing between the gear and the shaft- this tightens everything up, but the silicone has enough give in it to provide a slight cushion- less shock to the gear, so it should last longer.
Check out the C4 Techtip titled Headlight Bushing Repair.
It will help you fix ur headlight drooping. A very cheap repair. But it will take u a few hours to do both headlights. Even if both are not drooping.. I would do both anyways. It will cost u about $10 or less for the bushings.

Re: Headlight motor problems (UA89Vette)
Very easy repair. I just did it about a month ago on my 90. It needs the plastic bushings. If you look around on this site onedef92 posted just Tuesday a part number that you can buy from Home Depot that is the same part for about $2.00 instead of 10.
