Default One More TV Cable Setting Question

I have been trying to set my TV cable after replacing the TB. I received some good info from a previous post but I still have a question. I have read the GM Manual as well as a site titled "Throttle Valve Cable System 101".

I have depressed the cable slider release and pushed the slider rearwards and slightly into the housing. I then released the cable slider release and moved the throttle linkage to the full WOT position. According to what I read, the slider should move toward the front of the engine. Mine does not move at all when the throttle is moved to the WOT position.

Am I moving the slider back far enough or too far? Also should the slider move in the housing? I know how important it is to get this set up right but either I am not doing it correctly or there is something wrong with my TV Cable?

I would certainly appreciate some more input. Please be as specific as you can if you choose to post. One more thing, I did not consider the small pointed cap on the end of slider as part of the slider when positioning it in the housing.

Thanks again for your patience.

Sounds like your TV cable may have come loose at the transmission end? There's some good info and pics at http://www.tvmadeez.com/article/index.html

It's called a coaxial cable you just screw it into whatever device you are trying to use, television, VHS VCR, DVD Player, Cable Box, Satellite box, P.C. TV card, Laserdisc player, Betamax VCR or VCP. God I'm tired

What those directions fail to specify is the exact problem you are having. I always have the same issue every single time I have reset one of those. The trick is to slightly depress the button, just enough to take some tension off the slider. While you have the button slightly depressed place the end of the cable (the "small pointed cap" end) between your index an middle fingers.

Now with your index finger and middle finger push back towards the firewall while you or a helper rotates the throttle. You want to keep enough force on the cable to prevent it from sliding all the way forward, but not so much that you can't rotate the throttle.

That should be about as clear as mud. :)

I installed a OD tranny (2004R) in my C3 and used the TVmadeEZ system. The kit came with a standard GM TV cable. I set the TV cable by pushing in the button on the side and sliding in the cable as far back as it would go in the housing. Then got inside the car and push on the gas pedal slowly to the FLOOR and you will hear the slider ratchet out. The cable is now set. I also made sure the throttle linkage was at WOT with the gas pedal on the floor (need 2 people for that).

You can also make sure you have the cable set correctly by connecting a pressure gauge to the transmission. The kit I ordered from BTO came with the gauge, trans, TV kit..

Go to the BTO website (700R4.com) and click on the TVmadeEZ link. There are detailed instructions on how to set the TV cable.

I hope this info helps.

That seems to be the problem. I have never gotten the TV cable set that way. Every damn time I have done it the slider will not move no matter how hard I stepped on the gas or rotated the throttle :banghead:

Are you first pushing the slider rearward (toward the firewall) as far as it will go? If you depress the 'D' tab and hold it depressed, you should be able to push the slider rearward as far as possible.

THEN, when you mash the accelerator pedal you should hear the clicking as the TV cables sets itself.
