Default HELP BRAKES

OK, lets talk about brakes!

The car is an '89 6-speed with Z51

I installed new slotted rotors front and back.

I installed a rebuilt master cylinder.

I installed a new set (front and back) of Performance Friction pads.

I installed new ZR1/GS Front calipers.

I have bled the brakes at least 10 times probably using 1/2 gallon of brake fluid.

Problem is I don't have and can not get a firm pedal, cannot even lock up the brakes with hard braking.

Any and all ideas are welcome.

I am leaving for Tupelo MS in the morning for 3 days of autocrossing then to Las Vegas for the NCCC Convention, I realy need to fix these brakes!

Assuming you have no leaks it sounds like some sort of problem with the ABS.

Common problem. Possibly nothing wrong at all, try driving around a bit for a few days, quite possibly will cure itself.

Many years ago (in the 70"s) my brother was going on holiday in his car about a 300 mile trip. He had fiddled around with the brakes as part of his prep, and had no pedal at all. To the floor. Nothing. We bled them, changed the rubber hoses, bled them again..... tried everthing.

Now a tiny bit of pedal, but stand on it and you could still hit the boards.

OK - so now he is out of time, and against all the advice I gave him, he said "F*** it, I'm going any way!"

Two weeks later, (to my surprise) he arrived home. I asked anxiously how the brakese were. -

" Brakes? - Oh yeah, they were OK after about 100 miles"

Still non the bloody wiser.

SOMETIMES, slotted and drilled rotors keep the rotors cool and performance
pads work best when very hot. thats my only guess. :smash:
