Default need expert advise please help

okay i have a 91 vette with tpis long tube headers i just bought the side effects side pipe exhaust. i tryed 4 times to install this and i have no play between the spliter and the back of the cat and i need the play to line everything up. it's like from the y to the back of the cat has to go foward. these headers bolt in the stock location so i is this a problem?? i did everything slowly and carefully. does the y pipe have to be cut down??? this is dissapointing. please help

I don't know whether this will help you or not, since my problem with TPIS long tube headers was different than the one you're having (if I understood your post correctly).

I had to drop my entire exhaust system, mufflers and all.

Then I found that the collectors would not allow the front "Y" pipe to connect. The headers collectors and the "Y" pipe did not align and non amount of pushing and shoving would let me mate the collectors to the 'Y' pipe.

I finally had to loosen all the header flange to cylinder head bolts, which allowed me to be able to jiggle the collectors into the correct position so that the 'Y' pipe would slide on.

Then I tightened up the header flange to head bolts. I was a little nervous about doing that Using bolts screwed into the aluminum heads to pull the flanges back to the heads made me think of pulling threads out of the heads.

It worked though.

Best I can do, sorry.
