Just finished installing manual fan switch on my 91. Now if you've seen my previous posts I'm embarassed to say how simple it was but, once I reconnected the battery I got in and turned the key and all worked well. Next I start the car with the "climate control system" in off. Pushed the auto button and the primary fan comes on and the a/c is cycling on and off?????? If I go back to off the fan keeps going. When I shutdown and restart with system off the fan won't come on,as expected.Did I fry a relay? have double checked all my (2) splices and all is fine, ground is fine etc. If I disconnect the a/c relay on top of the compressor that stops that problem for now ,but the fan will continue to run.Again, all of this when ccs is on auto.Didn't have this happen before adding fan switch, and just 2 very simple splices, anybody got any thoughts :smash:
This was a switch from Corvette Central.Real simple(now),one wire spliced to "f" wire on primary relay and the other to aux. fan. last wire is grounded to frame inside car. With such easy install I don't see how it would affect the hvac either, this could be something completely different just happen at the same time, but if that's the case, what would make the a/c cycle on and off and have the primary fan run all the time
You may be low on freon..which causes it to cycle..could be it just happened because your just starting to run air again after winter.
You can test relays..it's fairly simple . pull relay and hook an aligator clip jumper to terminal E and one to D also and go to 12v+ on battery with both..this simulates the constant 12 and the ignition activated 12..then ground a test light and touch terminal A..you should have nothing there..now run an aligator clip jumper from Neg- post on battery and touch terminal F...this simulates the ECM grounding terminal F...you should hear and feel a "click" and now touch terminal A with test light ..it should light up..if so your relay is fine and working properly.
