Which memcal APYP or ABTB?
I am upgrading to the 165 ECM. I have a 85 with the 4+3 trans and I want to get rid of the cold start valve. Should I use the 6E APYP 6spd memcal so it will start if I ever get into limp home mode or should I use the 32B ABTB 4+3 memcal. I will be burning my own EPROM. I ordered the Moates adapter so if my EPROM has a problem I can easily switch back to the EPROM on the memcal.

I would use the 32b for the 4+3 and here is why:
The APYP is set up with the first to fourth skip shift and as a result the APYP code will note properly operate the overdrive on the 4+3 tranny, whereas the 32b code will.

Not sure what OD I have. Is it listed on the option sticker in the storage lid?

My 88 has the MK2 transmission and used to have ABTZ code. I have switched to a modified version of the APYP 6E code. It does not require the cold start valve and I have complete control of the overdrive.

I pulled all the old wires out of the connector except for two of them are stuck. I have the tool to unclip the tab it said it was for a C3 Corvette. It worked on all the rest. Anybody ever have this problem. I am ready to cut the two that I can't get out. Help!

It's the ECM D13, D14. The tool is Lisle 14900. It has a red body with pins, screw driver and a round pin that come out the sides.

Well I figured what the problem was getting the wires out was. I pulled to
hard on the wire when I unclipped the locking tab and I bent the tab inside
the connector. I used a Dremel tool and ground a hole in the side of the
connector and took a small Exacto knife and bent the locking tab back.
Moral of the store is don’t pull on the wires. If you unlock the tab correctly
the wire should almost fall out.
I should get my new memcal today. Lets see if it starts.

It alive!
Just finished swapping in a 165 ECM. Started right up
and runs just fine. The OD works like the 165 should with the
double push of the button. I just ordered the correct OD switch.
If I hadn’t screwed up a couple of wires in the ECM connector
this would have been one of the easyest mods I have done. That
is, with all your help. Thanks guys.

Nice work!!!
p.s.
When you scan your car now don't forget to plug in a fake 87/88 VIN.
