Could a leak between one or both of the intake to head gaskets and the heads cause this? can't hear any vacuum leaks, but I'm missing 7 inches of vacuum somewhere? Is is my cam choice,
It is NOT the cam choice. The installation, maybe, but not the cam. Head to manifold gaskets ARE a possible cause.
Unless the missing 7 inches is because the car can't run smoot enough to create the vacuum I need?
You have that backward. The lack of vacuum causes the rough running. Fix the cause of the low vacuum, and it will run smoothly. It could be (a) vacuum leak(s), timing chain off the marks, improper valve adjustment, or??? Did it run well before the cam installation? Was anything else done at the same time?
Good, its nice to know that i didn't blow money on the wrong cam. The timing marks were checked by a guy who knows what he's doing and he say I did a great job? As far as the rockers, I asked him about those too, he says they are fine. Other than the timing jumping all the time from a slack chain and a couple of noisy rockers, it ran pretty good for a crossfire with a worn cam!! If I'd have know I would have this much trouble, I would've just kept driving the bloody thing till the motor broke!!
Here is the latest, I just posted this at crossfire forum. I am seriously close to burning this car to the ground and NEVER touching another vette.
Ash.
The latest: It's 9:30pm Saturday, finally got to fire the car up. Well, guess what after taking the intake off and resealing it for the 3rd time I'm still getting code 33 and I cant get more than 10inches of vacuum to the MAP? I have looked for and sealed every possible vacuum leak and something is still wrong? where do I go from here? I am on the verge of tears right now!!!
I may finally have it fixed? But I'm not gonna get excited yet. Tonight I adjusted all the rockers and now the check engine light doesn't stay on it will go off and on, and the car is not nearly as rich. I don't think I honestly could have made that much of a difference, but I guess I must've done somthing right? will keep You all posted.
