NEW FUEL INJECTORS INSTALLED
I recently purchased 8 new TPI Bosch/Ford 22lb fuel injectors for my 92 LT1.
I did this because awhile back, the engine was slightly idling rough and hesitated/clunked when I would step on it doing about 40-60 mph on the highway. Once I replaced a bad fuel injector, it went away. Well this time, it's hesitating and idling worse, so I decided to replace all the injectors. It STILL idles rough if not rougher now AND I'm getting a slight hissing sound on the passenger side rear engine area after the engine is shut off.
Could I have gotten the wrong injectors (Five O Motorsports)? Any suggestions on what to check for? I did notice the injectors don't insert as deep as the originals into the fuel rail and they will all turn easily when installed.
Thanks,
Tom
Soz i can only be of limited use cos mines an L98 - but i recently replaced my injectors when doing my intake manifold leak - with no problems so far. Mine will turn a little - i had to move some round anyway to get the connectors on.
Im sure ppl with LT1`s will tell u wot 2 check.
For now all i can think of is: Manifold gasket and Vacuum Pipe leaks, and also possibly the Idle air valve resetting - assuming LT1`S have them and that they are adjustable. Any thing else u could have disturbed - TPS or timing maybe ?
Oh yeah, can u smell more fuel than usual ? If so - maybe a fuel line hasn`t sealed porperly at a joint - the same could be true of the o-rings on the injectors - if they fit the same as mine (with locking rings on top, then mine needed the locking rings on the top notch so that the injectors seated properly in the intake) - but like i say mines an L98..
R u sure that the hissing isn`t ur aircon - mine hisses from passenger side near the evaporator after shutdown - mines pretty loud - but if urs is only fairly quiet maybe ur just listening harder bcos u know somethings wrong...
Hopefully some1 will give u some more specific info soon.
Good luck,
Dom
As for the new injectors, they seem to performing fine...more punch now, too.
The hissing sound on the passenger side is still there, but I think you're right that it's the A/C unit. It's not real loud, and it goes away after about 10 seconds.
