Flowmaster alternatives?
Quick question.
I am running a 388 c.i with Hooker long tubes, x pipe, 3" daul pipes, hi flow cats (thank you state of PA) and flow master 2 chamber mufflers.
The rumble is really nice, much almost too much. I was at a car show this weekend where I heard a car with the exact sound I was going for.
He had headers, H pipe and flowmaster single chambers. It really cut out the rumble and resonance and allowed the cam sound to cut through for a choppier exhaust. Could the X pipew i have be cancelling out the sound of the cam by forcing the gases trough the same tube?
Do you guys think a swap might the right idea or is it
p.s. I am asking for help, please dont flame me :mad :mad
Let me know what you think!

There are a lot of characteristics that make up the total exhaust sound over just the exhaust components; engine components affect it as well...cam specs being one of the important ones.
Unless you have the EXACT same engine as the one you listened to and liked, you may not get the same tailpipe sounds.
The ONLY way to know for sure is to try it....
After you experiment with it, you'll be something of an exhaust expert and can mentor the rest of us when we have a similar question...
