Changing rearend fluid
Yesterday I swapped out a rear wheel bearing on my 91 I was wondering how hard it is to do the rearend fluid and what need to be removed. I didn't look at it too hard but it kinda looked involved

Changing rear end fluid in a vette is not hard but it is an aggravation to a lot of people because there is no drain plug. You must pump it out. People have used various pumps to do this but I modified a pump that I got for pumping gear oil into my out board motor lower unit. Trick is to get the pick up tube down far enough to get most of the old oil out.

You can get a reasonably inexpensive suction pump at auto parts stores that will do the job fairly well. The key is to get the car up high enough to slide under to remove the plug and push the tube down far enough to get all the old fluid out. Then refill using the same pump to draw gear oil from the bottle into the differential.
Use a good grade of synthetic gear oil in the weight specified in the owner's manual and a bottle of the GM Positraction additive.
