I hear a short grinding (or rubbing ) sound everytime I start the car and drive forward for about the first 3 feet.
Sounds like it is coming from the rear.
Don't hear while driving only when I first drive off.
You may be hearing the ABS system doing it's self test. This happens every key cycle as soon as you hit 3 mph. It makes a kind of grinding type noise and it really suprised me the first time I heard it.

Anyway to get rid of the sound?
If not the car drives fine and I guess i will live with it.

Re: Grinding sound (Steel Blue 91)
I always heard a "groan" on my '92 (ABS). Could this be from the emergency brake pads? They might be slightly rubbing enough (possibly a worn out area on the pad(s)) when you first roll the car forward.
Another possiblity: Rotors could be warped. Do you have a "wobbling effect" when you apply the brakes driving?
Any grinding with a brake system is usually a sign of something worn down.

No wobbling effect. Yes you are correct. It is better described as a "groan" than a "grind"
