Default Dyno'd the vette!

My 1992 lt1 six-speed with an intake, throttle body (52mm), and mufflers cut out made 279.7 rwhp and 316.4 rwtq. Much more than I expected out of a motor with 116k miles. I had it dyno'd pre-cam/rr's which is a work in progress as of tomorrow. My original aim was for 300 rwhp after the cam swap but it looks like I might be able to look a little further

What do you mean by " intake"? Because unless it's an aftermarket manifold, I can't let the irony of your username and that terminology used to describe what is essentially a new air filter go w/out mention.

Sorry, but it is for your own benefit in the long run. I really I am not saying this to be a butt, but we all have things that get under our skin quicker than others. And when it comes to cars, that horrible misnomer(sp) is one of them for me.

Any way nice numbers, shouldn't be too hard to get what you want

Actually I do believe "intake" to be the proper term, because it wasn't just a different filter, it was a different inlet entirely. It's an SLP intake btw. It's not a new term anyway....on a carb. car, what sits on top of the carb?? I do believe thats the intake....

Nice numbers. Since you listed your motor as an LT1, I understood what intake you were talking about. How many do they make? Plus you listed it before tb and then went on to mention mufflers. Kind of going from front to back.

I always thought what sat on top of a carburetor was an "air cleaner" and that's what housed the air filter. I'd also go along with "air filter housing".

As for the term "intake", people could get it confused with the intake manifold. I have no opinion as to whether the term is considered "rice" or not.

If someone told me they had installed an aftermarket intake though, I would think it to be an intake manifold.

Sorry, I guess I'm not up to par with the latest vernacular!

Good numbers!

Ask any carb guy what "intake" he's running. He won't name the mfr of the tin can sitting on top of the carb. He'll tell you what's under the carb, bolted to the heads. eg, Tunnel Ram, Victor Jr, Team G X-celerator and so on. Using the term intake (instead of inlet or bellows) to describe nothing more than a new piece of hose or plastic from filter to tb is new and born of the so called rice community.

I know what you meant and wasn't trying to be a dick. But as I'm sure you know, if you ask here "What intake should I run" you'll get this http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=849569 not SLP claw or the TPIS box (which I need). The rice mentality is refering to an SLP claw filter holder the same as one would refer to a Super Ram or Mini-Ram etc.

PS check out "93 ragtrop" he dropped in a hotcam and great success. Not sure if he had his heads worked though Sounded good and ran 11.96 before thr rtv even cured

Being of the old school....

Because of the difference in generational terminology, we have to make clear just what the mods are; "intake" could mean just about anything these days, depending on who you are talking to....

Maybe my terminology is tainted. My apologies for my ignorance. As for the cam its a comp cam 218/230 duration, .495/.510 of lift with 1.6 pro-magnum roller rockers. My new goal is 310 rwhp after the cam swap. Any thoughts or opinions as to if this is a realistic number?

So is your car bone stock besides the elims and 52 mm TB? Those are fantastic bone stock numbers.

Bone stock is right, when the guy told me the numbers I was dumbfounded . The second I get to a scanner I'll scan the printout so you guys can see the curve. I thought it sounded like an unusual amount of power...

I woulnd't consider that bonestock...bone stock...to me anyway...is no0 mods, not even a k & n filter....i would call that pretty much stock..but bone stock is never doing anything toyour car at all, including rims, interior updates etc...

But still i envy you

Nice numbers!

See my sig for my 99's munbers. That was done at 10K miles and the car was totally stock, so you aren't far behind at all (HP wise).

Very very good numbers (on that ALMOST bone stock vette :p: )

See my numbers in sig, that's at 128k miles and with the few minor bolt-ons I have.
