Cam Button Problem

I'm working on a retro-fit hyd. roller cam in a 400 block but the cam still has too much "end play" with the Lingenfelter button and washer installed. It moves approx. .035 with all parts installed. Anyone else experience this one?????

They make a shim pack to use between the button and cam. Had to use .030 on the last roller cam motor I assembled.

What button are you using? My friends motor has the roller button, and we had to machine it down AND machine the inside of his aluminum cover too.

Am using a Lingenfelter "plastic" button. I believe it's the only one that will fit his camshafts (center bore is smaller mthan other manufacturers ? In addition, his cams have smaller "sprocket circle diameter and will NOT accept
some aftermarket timing gears (sprockets) and button retainers.
