What kind of things would have to be done to take advantage of this installation in an L98? the car would otherwise be stock (oh yeah, maybe roller rockers )
Re: new program for HotCam in an L98 (JrRifleCoach)
Best thing would be a search of the archives. I think this topic has been...
The engine should run on the stock programming. Raising the idle speed to 850 or 900 rpm will smooth the idle. Increasing the closed throttle spark advance will help as well if the L98 ECM has that function mapped separately. If your car is an automatic, you'll need a looser converter.
For specific tuning enhancements, I'd redo the closed loop fueling (VE tables) and the timing tables. Specifics will depend on year, engine wear due to age, etc. Depending on the rpm/load, you may find the stock injectors at the stock fuel pressure are a bit undersize. Bumping the fuel pressure and programming accordingly will reduce the injector pulsewidth to something acceptable. After all the idle and part throttle tuning is complete, you'll need to rent dyno time to tune WOT. Quickest way is to pay someone with experience. Best way is to learn it yourself and experiment using an organized, rationale methodology.
