I have Qa1's (12 adjustments), but I will tell you what my friends do. They autocross and have the Koni's set full soft (when new).

Keep in mind that the rears have to be removed to change the adjustment. That's the main reason I went QA1. They have an easy access **** at the bottom of the shock. The other is they're half the weight of Koni.

For street I'd set Koni full soft.

You will like the Koni's - a great shock.

I run my front konis about a quarter turn from full stiff on the front and about a quarter turn from full soft on the rear. Going to try and turn the rears up a little bit and see how the car does. Main reason for having them so high is racing, but personally I have no problem driving them around on the street like that.

KONI?
After a little experimentation, I've settled on:
front: full soft
rear: half turn from full soft

This is for chasing C5's on the mountain roads around here and not for any sort of long-course track use. It should work for the rough autoX events around here, too.
Good luck!
(QA-1's half the weight of KONI's?? Maybe a coupla' ounces. Maybe.
I do like the features of the QA-1's, though.)

What springs do you use on your car? I have the stock FE1 for 96 which is the softest made. With the current settings of the shocks I have little or no skipping on the rough roads and it gives a good turnin to make up for the lack of spring.

I have the base suspension, too. My main goal was to eliminate the front "skipping" and the KONI's did that quite nicely. I don't feel the need for a stiffer spring, since even the "soft ride" Corvette spring rate is quite high.

Hey Larry, how ya doin?

I knew someone would doubt the weight on the QA1's so before I put 'em on I went to Sports Authority & got one of those digital fish scales 0 to 50 lb range.

I can't find the paper I wrote it on but the KONI was about 5 lbs (steel body) and the QA1 was about 2.5 (alum body). At least two lbs less per corner.

(I had bought both Koni & QA1 to replace my Bilstein (base - soft) shocks. I sent the Koni's back - basically because of the weight advantage & the access to rear adjustment on a Corvette application).

I'm NOT knocking Koni's, they're great & for every set of QA's on the track there are probably 20 sets of Koni's. I just felt for about the same price it was worth trying the QA's

I still gotta get out on a mountain run one of these times.
