Oh yeah fellas blew the tranny today! Gotta love 700R4's. Broke something in OD all other gears work fine but you cant start from a dead stop in overdrive without it popping out of gear. Broke loose when I got on it and it down shifted heard a nice loud boom and no OD. Dropped it off at the shop looking like a 2K rebuild. Going back the way I had it I think all kevlar bands trans go shift kit, 2600 or 3000 stall(which do you guys think is better?) with the addition of a 3 qt extra deep oil pan.
I would not get too radical with stall speeds on a street driven car. As I remember it, Florida is very warm in the summer and high stall speeds can put engine and transmission heat into the twilight zone.
A tight 11 inch (2200 stall) TQ will work very well and allow almost any camshaft suitable for street and strip driving.
If you are near Bradenton/Sarasota get in touch with Ralph Stenger. He may be one of the very best performance transmission guys in the country. Tell him EZ Money (Ron Landram) sent you.
I dropped it off to the shop the day it happened and they just got back with me on everything that broke. I guess when it downshifted I broke the sprangs and sent metal through everything. Needs a complete rebuild converter and all he had to check on converter price and get back with me before he could give me a final price.
You could get a 2100-2200 stall for like $100 bucks check out PStransmissionparts.com (I think thats the website) there somewhere down south I think lousiana.. I bought one from them, great service and pricing.. a racing rebuild kit was like $83 dollars.. thats all the seals, doesn't include the band or filter... but those are cheap too..
