I'd like to be able to drive to the person and maybe spend a day with them cuz I hear that the first reprogram is rarely "perfect".
I live in Canada right on the USA border above New York. It took me 7 hours to drive to Carlisle and I'd drive that distance to be able to finally get my car in tune.
I could email you a datamaster file (for an 89 Corvette) if anyone is interested in taking a look.
Basically, my car is running too rich and is pulling 7 degrees of timing at WOT, and it has a stumble at 1900 RPM in open loop. I'm sure there are other areas that need tweaking that you'll see upon reviewing the datamaster file.
I have the last 2 weeks off in July due to plant shutdown and I'd love to get it done then.
It sounds like you already know your car and have a laptop and scanware. Have you thought about burning it yourself. For the money spent on a chip, you could probably buy everything that you need. Then you could spend some of your time off with tuning your car. There are plenty of knowledgeable people to help you right here on the forum. It's your call. Good luck!
I was thinking of that, but it is almost scary how much info the scanware gives you. And then, what to tweak and how much?....
I know there is loads of help here, but I don't want to jump into that just yet.
BTW, how much do you think the startup costs would be? I have DataMaster, TunerPro and a laptop with an ALDL cable already. So, I guess I'd just need an eraser and Pocket Programmer or somethng like that huh?
Ah, I'll re-read the sticky FAQ at the top anyways.
I use a Pocket Programmer 2 in it costs $149.95. Heres the linK. http://www.xtronics.com/memory/EPROM.htm
Another $5 for a chip that is an eeprom (electronically erasable) and no need for a UV eraser. So for $150 and change you can be burning. It's easy dude.
