Default 882 bulbs?

I have finally found these bulbs at NAPA in Toronto, Canada. Question is they only come with the sockets? Is this something I want, and do the bulbs attach from the white socket? Or do i have to remove my socket which looked like a pain in the butt.....

thanks scorp who i am banking to reply to this one....

Get the bulbs with the sockets and then remove them from the sockets, they just pull straight out. You shouldn't touch the bulbs with your fingers, but if you do, clean them off with some alcohol or brake cleaner. I used some bent nose needle nose to remove the old ones from the dash and to install the new ones. Just don't squeeze too hard!! The just pull straight out and slide straight in.

Yeah, I got the 882s from Advanced and they came with the sockets. It can be a pain to replace them because the little prongs like to bend easily when trying to insert them. And don't drop the light into the cluster or you will be making a lot of work for yourself. Ask me how I know. :bb

You might also try using some rubber tubing to remove the old bulbs and install the new ones. Neat trick!

use those latex CSI type gloves when you handle the bulbs. The oil from your hands will make their lives very short.

It is pretty easy to pull the digital dash out on the 88. Then unscrew the cover of the dash unit itself and you can get access to the sockets and bulbs. I popped the new socket/bulb combo in place of the old ones on my 88 and did not have to worry about bending the wires putting them in.

Used some canned computer air to blow everything clean. If you do this CAREFULLY you can also see and replace the turn signal and high beam bulbs at the same time. I replaced all 7 bulbs at the same time . (4) - #882 halogen for the LCDs and (3) - #74 for the high beam/turn signals.

As already mentiond use clean latex gloves or something similar when handling the bulbs.

I'll add instead of needle nose, I use a vacuum hose; works great, I agree 882's aren't easy to find, & when I need one I usually buy all 2 or 3 they have (@ Murray's)

I need new bulbs for the cluster on my 85. So everyone uses 882's... is that what came stock? Someone mentioned 891's and how bright they are. I would love to have an extra bright cluster! Are those easy to find and does anyone have part numbers for autozone/napa?

If you use the 891's, you are going to have trouble. They will burn your boards over a long period of time. Brighter=more current=more heat
