Summit vends the March pulley sets for L98 & LT1 SBCs, in powder coated steel or Al.

Though I have the powder coated steel crank & alt pulleys, I suspect the Al will give more benefit due to reduce pulley inertia.

Adding pullies will definitely help. On top end dotn be surprised to see 5+rwhp from them depending on your redline. Higher you rev the more you will gain. on top of that your power steering will last longer... so might your belt because they all spin slower. Downsides however are that if you autocross the power steering pump may lag because it might not be turning fast enough, your interior lights may dim slightly at idle if you go with the underdrive alternator pulley. If its worth the little extra hp to you i say go with the alternator underdrive as well.

The reason why i dont think this mod is a waste is because people think TB airfoils k&N filters and little mods work... they obviously do and they can all add up when done.

aspracing.com is a company that makes pulleys. I've had march pulleys and the asp racing one i have looks to be a much better quality build than the March. The mArch one seperated after 2 years. Kind of sad considering the march one is over twice the price. The asp racing one i have is for sale if you're looking for a basically new piece at a cheaper price. I went with an ATI dampener that is zero balanced to my new engine and can handle vibrations at 7500 rpm.

One thing i forgot to mention is that remember that most of the history behind this mod was to lessen the drag effects of the accessories... which mainly was the water pump and the alternator. On the LT1 the waterpump drive is cam driven. so pulleys are only slowing the power steering and the alternator. if you go with the alternator pulley to keep the stock idle voltage you would only be reducing the power steering.... which isnt a lot.

On the other hand i reccomend getting the underdrive pulley to reduce alternator and power steering, then switch to a mezziere water pump. DO them both and i guarantee you will be AND your water pump will last waaay longer, and so will your accessories, and you gain hp !!

It ain't worth the trouble...5hp? Try indexing your spark plugs for free. The cost of gaining 5hp by changing the pulleys is hardly worth the cost. If it were, we all would be doing it.

oh and the k&N gives what 1 rwhp - 2 rwhp not even on a dyno?? and why does everyone have it? beats me. On my motor the asp underdrive pulley gave me 19 rwhp, assuming 15% loss thats 22 crank hp at redline. call that insignificant? i doubt any headers and a full exhaust on a stock motor could give that much.

well my motor is a 388 ci that revvs 7500.. but comparing the graphs at 5700 which would have been the stock redline it still made about 12 rwhp more than with a non underdrive ati dampener.

I still think for the price asp sells them for its not a bad value at all.

about my pulley... let me just find it...

$164.95 -- N/A --

thats from their website... even they say its a 15 hp deal. I say for $144 thats a great deal. Considering it takes 20 mins to install it... for someone who has done it before.

Not to start a flame war with you Ruby.. maybe i shudnt have used the BS flag.. ( i think that bs flag does offend people)... but indexing the plugs?? try a different gap on the LT1 and i guarantee you'll lose hp everywhere. if you get lucky maybe you'd gain 1 hp . if that makes you happy then enjoy telling everyone you gained 3/4 of a rwhp by indexing your plugs.
