Hey all. My 85 is completely stock. The car has decent power so long as I'm only giving it mild part throttle. Anything more aggressive, the car bogs terribly and never catches on. That is, so long as the throttle is pressed, the car feels horrible and feels as though it's running on half its cylinders. Light throttle, all is normal.
Without knowing too much about what you've already checked on the car, I'd suspect that it could possibly be a clogged injector or fuel filter, or perhaps even a fuel pump on its last leg.
The EGR, EGR temp sensor, all 8 injectors, the fuel pump (Delco unit), fuel filter, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, ignition module, cam, lifters, and all the partridges in the pear tree.
We are having a TPS discussion on another post, you might check there for some info. I was having a bogging condition on my 87 as well and discovered that someone had set the timing without disconnecting the "whatchamacallit" (I'll have to check an old post for the exact name and send you there). Anyway my timing was retarded a bunch. I reset at 8 degrees BTDC and it was a huge improvement. You probably already checked this so its for the what its worth dept.
I had a hesitation problem and it turned out to be the ECM, It was only reading half of the WOT voltage from the TPS. Changed out the ECM and it fixed that problem. Don't just jump and do this, check the TPS voltage at closed and WOT should be from .54 closed, to 4.5 or better at WOT. Have a scanner looking at what the computer sees at closed and WOT and if it does not match , then consider the ECM. ECM $75 at autozone..
