You could pull apart the diff but i really wouldnt recomend that. because my car is makeing a very similiar noise. does it get worse and do it louder in reverse like when u turn down to get out of your drive way? before you tear the rear diff apart look into the wheel bearings and or u joints. cheaper and less of a pain in the ***.

The first place to start is the u-joints and wheel bearings.

Thats the U-joints, best to replace all of them with new Spicer units.

Or your wheel spindles are rusted. Pull em out and wire brush em then grease em up and install.

However, being that you said it is happening on decelleration makes me think it is probably more than likely u-joints. The wheel spindle thing is more of a starting from a stop thing.
