Very true. He could have plastic drinking straws rigged up on that thing and still be making those numbers.

How about this. Instead of shortening the HSR intake we raise the hood up a couple of inches like say by adding a 2.5 in Cowl induction scoop?

uh, that's been suggested. Refer to things such as "reciprocating saw" or "cut the hood". However, there is danger in doing that. The hood is a structural member of the car. If you do this wrong, you will not like the results.

You have to understand the structure of the C4.

First off, the hood is a supporting member of the front. No fenders, remember? No fenders means no structure.

When the hood is closed, it crosses the 4 corners of the front frame and joins them with the a-frame bulkhead area (the latches).

If a hood is damaged in an accident, it is hard to repair, because an accident can cause invisable stress cracks. Cutting won't (for the most part).

within the hood is framed in steel. If you cut that steel, you will have to replace it somehow.

The back 2/3rds of this generation is actually a semi-monocoque frame. The body panels are stressed... to a degree.

Try this, open your hood and drive a little... the cowl shake will be stunning!

I guess I will have to find a different intake then because I am not going to cut up a structural support.
