....my corvette has 95k on it.....how many more miles left on the alternator?....i am thinking it needs to be changed out now.........so the dealer quotes me $253.21 for a new alternator....and how long of a job is it?.....any ideas out there?
In Washington, try NAPA or Schucks. I picked up one for my 85 at Schucks with life time warranty. I would try NAPA first (better product) but when mine went out I was limited to Schucks. About $150 or so...couple of years ago.
Easy to replace...take neg cable off battery, remove serp. belt, uubolt bracket holding alternator and remove all wires from alternator. Reverse to install. About 20-45 minutes depending on the tools you have and past experience.
GOOD LUCK from a native Washingtonian...we don't tan...that is rust!
Look in the yellow pages and find any auto electric shop. They should rebuild it for around $50.00 . Any alternator you will buy @ Autozone is also rebuilt, except they are much higher. My guy rebuilt mine and even put fresh paint on it.
