Default LT4 Water Pump replacement

It has gone fairly easy up to this point. I'm removing the 6 bolts at this time and the one that is causing the problem is the one behind the air pump pulley. Am I going to have to remove the air pump to get to it or am I missing something here?

TIA

The air pump is electric. You're looking at the power steering pump. Remove the 4 bolts that hold it to the accy mounting brace and you'll be able to move it enough to reach the bolt.

I do not believe you have to remove the pulley. Some other LT4 guys should chime in soon.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to an electric coolant pump. Meziere HD pump is what the factory should have put in the LT1/4. Check out the tech tips under Meziere pump install.

Uh, yep you are correct. I went ahead and removed the the four bolts and it made it alot more accessible.

I ended up buying the PS pulley installer/puller from Autozone and it opens up the whole area and makes it easier to slip the pump out. On my particular car the pump wouldn't come out from the pulley even with the PS pump loose, but then mines a vert, maybe something is a bit different. The best tool I found to remove that bolt was a socket with the universal joint right onto the back of the socket. Dave

I got to that bolt with just a regular socket and a u-joint. It was a PITA though. Next time I'll probably move the PS pump.
