Guys heres my latest post from crossfire forum: The car is still "stumbly" rich at idle and there is a very debilitating mis fire/stumble around 2000-2400 rpm that stops me from being able to accelerate into traffic? I am now up to 9.4 MPG, but that is just a bit shy of what it should be!!! In the last couple of weeks I have backed off the valves till they clack and then 1/2 turn to quiet, new plugs, O2, cap, rotor, set timing, plugged all vacuum leaks etc. I am definately out of places to look? Another thing, the idle will ocassionaly roll from 600-1000 rpm in park and sometimes go up to 1400rpm and stay there? Do I need to go in and re adjust the rockers?
Not likely. Your adjustment method sounds good. The amount of pre-load isn't critical to how it runs. Some people use the absolute minimum pre-load to raise the pump up point slightly (higher revs). Whether it be a 1/4 turn, a 1/2 turn, or a full turn, small differences in pre-load won't affect how it runs. If memory serves me, it was suggested that you re-lash, to be sure it wasn't so tight that some of the valve weren't being allowed to seat. Adjusted, as you describe, running, the valve adjustment is not the problem, now. Are you getting any codes? You may have to start over and refresh our memories as to any modifications and what led to the problems.
I had to register under a different name, cuz I can't seem to get on at home under my other name/password?'
This is what I just posted at crossfire forum: Its monday night 8:10pm I just fired the car up, rough idle picked up to in between rough and resonable. When I pulled wire #'s 1,2,7 off the cap while running, there is spark but it did not change the idle? I even pulled #7 right away from the cap and it did nothing? Now when I went around the other side of the car and pulled wires #8,4 off individually the spark was so strong it threw me away from the car and bloody hurt!!! Am i not not firing on all cylinders?(the car, don't get smart!!) I would expect to get one hell of a shock off of 1,2,7 as well, but i didn't.
Ash.
P.S. to answer your question: new cam(c.c. 252 ah12)springs(80pounds over stock), lifters, rocker nuts, chain and gears(lined up)waterpump, seals, plugs, o2, cap, rotor, timing cover, compter, hypertech chip. Don't think i've forgotten anything
