losing trans fluid

I have been leaking some ATF looking stuff for a little while and I was wondering if it might be coming from the 4-speed trans rather than the OD unit as I originally thought. I haven't had enough time to really check it out under there yet but I have looked and it doesn't appear to be comming from any specific location just a general wetness around both trans & OD. Is the 4-speed filled with ATF?

If it's ATF you're leaking, chances are that it is from the OD section. Look for a leak around the pan area of your OD. The 4 speed section should be filled with gear oil.

oh...

I was concerned because it just started making a loudish sound when I downshift into second but all the other gears seem normal. I suppose I need to check the rear diff as well maybe?
