Help with brake upgrade
I need to dig a set of trashed c5 calipers out of a box, they came off a 99 FRC, the lightest of the line up. It still spread the calipers.

You don't half *** a 383 build do you? You save your money up and do it right.
In this case though brakes are a area that you definately don't want to d**k around in. It's your life, or possibly somebody elses if it doesn't work/fails.

If it's just a sunday cruiser as you call it, yhen stock JL9 calipers will work, as long as it's properly maintained. Good clean fluid, and a decent pad. Hell, that's only 100 bucks for all the above.
No need to be a sarcastic
If you haven't already guessed I have a C5 conversion. I opted for it because the brakes on my '87 are completely shot and they don't stop the car, plain and simple. At least with the C5 brakes I'll have a system that's up to street use/abuse and will keep my bumper out of the tailpipes of the guy in front of me if I ever do begin to track the car. One day I'll step up to a track-quality system, but right now I'm restoring a mustang so the Corvette is on the back burner. 'Til then, info and insight from a guy like who who has experience in the shortcomings of these brakes can not only help me but the rest of the forum/lemmings.
I guess what I'm saying is, instead of making statements like "C5 brakes suck" and leaving it at that, it might be better to say "if you're considering a C5 conversion there are some things you should be aware of..." See what I'm sayin'? You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Oh, and a wise man once informed me that my presence in any given place colors me the same as everyone else in that place, so if, as you say, we're all "lemmings", well...
Alright, I'll F-off now. I apologize to everyone for highjacking this thread.
