Surpintine Belt Size
I need a quick fix since my compressor locked up. Thanks for any advice!
Eric
In my case, In doing so, the tensioner gets bypassed also. What I did, was to take a tape measure and route it the same way the belt would go and read the measurement(in inches).
Serpentine belts part numbers are a combo of it's length in inches, how many ribs it has and some other letters or stuff.
Example:
My L98 has 6 ribs. A dayco brand belt for mine was part #
56OK6
56 being 56 inches, the "ok" is some other info for them, and the 6 on the end is how many ribs the belt has.
Then I went to the parts store.
Don't let them give you that "What year vehicle sir?" crap. Just ask for the belt you need or if you can physically go back there and get it yourself. It might mean taking3 belts close to your measurement and returning the 2 that didn't fit.
(Do LT belts have ribs?)
I should also note that it took some "finessing" of the driven accessories to get the belt on.
Or hopefully a forum member will chime in with the exact number and how to route it so you don't have to do all this hassle I typed
