Default Brake Booster or Master Cylinder?

I have a '92 and the brakes suck. Long stopping distance, air leaking sound when pressing pedal sometimes, pedal goes to floor sometimes with little stopping power, and if brake pedal is slammed too hard both ABS and traction control Service lights come on. Im taking my car to the shop to get the opti, water pump, r/window motor and turn signal switch replaced and need to know which part I need to buy. Any thoughts gents?

Check the vacuum line that feeds the booster. If that is good then change booster. Contemporary Corvette has them for $225 and they take 1/2 hr to change.

Is the Vacuum line inside the engine compartment or in the cab? Secondly, how do I check this? THanks!

If the booster or the vacuum line is bad, generally and most often, this will result in a very hard brake pedal (booster assists the pressure required on the brake pedal, no boost=hard pedal

Pedal going to the floor and soft pedal generally indicates bad master Cylinder or a leak in the lines or at a wheel cylinder.

Hissing sound you mention does sound like a vacuum leak, but results (soft pedal, etc. don't) Also if it is a vacuum leak, you might experience bad idle.

With the engine idling, try spraying some Carb Cleaner at the Booster and the vacuum line coming from it. If idle staggers, then it is vacuum

Leaking Master Cylinder doesn't necessarily show up as a visible leak! Fluid can leak around the piston during compression and stay inside the MC if piston bores are worn
