Default Wtf

Yesterday I replaced the 02 sensor-threw a code, thought I would clear it, disconnected battery. No codes. Car really seemed crispier, like better throttle response. This morning after I left my office WTF! car (87 auto) didn't want to upshift normally. From 1st to 2nd slower shift-but hard shift-2nd to 3rd takes to long, but hard shift-didn't shift into OD. Is this just coincidence or what? Much help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I cant think of any connection between O2 sensor and shifting. You didn't accidently lean on or stretch or disconnect your throttle body valve downshift cable did you? I know that usually only affects down shift to passing gears but I'm just trying to think. hmmmmm..I dunno..does 87 have an upshift relay? 90 has one mounted on fender well beside the AC control relay near the brake master and battery where the fan relay was on my 84. Well, I'm not much help but I gave ya a bump..good luck.

Check for a vacuum leak, could possibly be related to both issues.

Thanks Guys, I'll look for both vacumn leak-didn't hear any, and also for relay-not sure 87 had a tranny relay. Oh yeah, thanks for the bump

I can't imagine a vacuum leak affecting trans shifting. The 700R4 doesn't have a vacuum modulator like the TH350 and TH400. The only ECM, trans related function on an '87, is the converter lock up.

RACE ON!!!
