Default Urgent! Need help installing hub LT4/LT1

I am installing the hub on my 96 lt4 using the method of different size bolts and washers to draw the hub on. I have reached a impass. The bolt I was using that is longer than the stock bolt has stopped turning ( i have turned it harder than the 74ft lbs) required for the stock bolt.

When I go to put in the stock bolt it will not catch w/ the washer on, so it is either too short or the hub needs to go on more. Does it take more than 80 ft lbs to pull the hub on? What type of distance from the hub to a marker of some sort behind the hub?

any advice?

Using a longer than stock bolt, you should be able to add washers until you get it close enough for the correct bolt to catch. Make sure it catches by several threads before you try to continue, you DON'T want to strip the crank. It should not take an excessive amount of force to draw it in.

It seems to be taking excessive force. Can some one tell me the distance from one of the hub arms to the opti? i am using a longer bolt and it is taking over 90 ft lbs to turn.....

Also when my crank snout bolt snapped I was able to seperate the hub from the balancer and remove both without removing anything else. I would like to hear any experiences w/ putting on or replacing balancers ie what had to come off. When I installed them previously the motor was out or the h20 pump was off.

If you have the hub off, lightly lub the hub and make sure there is no rust on the inside of the hub or outside of the snout. I use a LT1/4 Kent-More hub installer which has a nice flat roller bearing that makes pulling the hub on a piece of cake. To tell if you have it on far enough, see if your serp belt lines up. With the hub off, measure the distance inside the hub and on the snout.
