Default C-beam washers

Upon removal of my C-beam I discovered the rear bolts had washers on top and bottom but the front bolts had washers only on top. The C-beam is somwhat gouged on the botom from the bolt heads. Did some previous mechanic leave them out or is there some reason GM didn't put washers there?

This may not answer your question, but you might think about "beam plates"

These beauties make installation a breeze and they increase the surface area for holding the C-beam in place. contact Bill Boudreau at: www.billb@zfdoc.com

BTW, mine had washers on both the bolt head and nut end.

My '96 had the washers on the top and bottom of both bolts.

I'd bet on some mechanic leaving the washers off.

I would get or make some beam plates to aid in reassembly. I definitely don't know how anyone can get those nuts and washers back on the front of the C-beam. I don't think I could have!
