Simple brake question
OK guys BRAKES my 95 seems to stop ok but just wanted to get your take on it.It seems like my wont lock the tires up when I slam on the brakes. The other day I was rolling about 10mph them just jammed the brakes to the floor. And it seemed to just kinda come to a rolling stop no screeching of tires or nothing. So whatever info you can give is always appreciated. thanks
The ABS system can be a bit scary. The other day I came to hard stop from about 60 mph and for a moment I thought "It ain't gonna make it!", but it smoothly came to rest where I wanted it to. Great system, perhaps a bit hard on the heart, though!
99vetteinmemphis, all Corvettes starting in 1986 came with ABS which no matter how hard you try and lock your brakes up they will not. This was a safety device on the car but actually helped the braking performance allot. Your 95 also has traction control so if mash the throttle to the floor and as soon as your tires spin, the control unit will push the throttle pedal back up at you.

i'm not sure about the rest of you, but the car makes it absolutely clear when ABS activates (pulsing pedal, ABS unit making all sorts of noise, ASR(?) light on). 95VETTEINMEMPHIS, i'm not sure if you have seen such things especially in the wet or braking on bumpy roads.
on a dry day, when i mash the pedal to the floor from 50 mph, it will come to a stop without a hint of ABS. mash it from 30 i can get ABS to come on just prior to stopping. on a wet day it is obviously much easier.
i have regular non-performance pads with non-HD brakes, so i'm not exactly surprised.
