ASR question
Can i fix it? What is involved? If i take it to a dealer or mechanic what type of pricing will I expect?
Fixing it isn't a major priority right now since I normally turn it off anyway but the "service ASR light" really irritates me.
But if yours does it just casually driving along, disregard what I just said it could be.
And if that's the case, I can't help, I've yet to really have to dig into ASR...
"The tach pulses circuit provides the Electronic Brake Control Module with an indication of engine RPM to help determine ASR control methods and rates when a ASR event takes place.
The "SERVICE ASR" indicator light will be ON and Code 62 set if there is a short to ground, short to B+ or an open in circuit 121."
The manual goes on to say that "a short to ground may cause driveability problems. If the ground fault is on the ignition side of the tach filter the engine may not start or run very badly".
How does your car run?? Will it start??
Does the tach work properly across different engine speeds?? "If it does, the problem may be an open circuit between the common connection point of the instrument panel tach wiring and the CKT 121 wiring at bulkhead connector C100 terminal G."
It looks like you will need a wiring diagram to trace the circuits and their locations to trace either an open circuit or a bad ground. While the manual talks about the tach wire circuit it does not state that a tech filter is a potential cause.
