I'm rebuilding an '84 and just discovered it has three 9.5" rims and one 8.5" rim. Stock was 8.5" front and 9.5" rear but this car has the Z51 suspension so I don't know if that changed the rim sizes.
My question is, which rim should I replace, an 8.5" for a 9.5" for stock setup or a 9.5" for the 8.5" for four 9.5" rims. The latter case would make tire rotations a lot easier. The tire size is stated as being the same for the 8.5" and 9.5" rims. Does that make sense?
Just for conformation. Base 1984's came with 4, 16 x 8.5" wheels. The Z51 option included 16 x 9.5" rear wheels, with the 16 x 8.5" fronts. The tires remained P255/50/R16's.
