i have a fuel pressure regulater and it has a vacuum for the manifold pressur..
i seen that if your fuel pressure doesnt drop 3-10 pounds while its running then theres a problem...
is this true??because i have a rough idle and cant pin it..today i ran out of gas unknowingly and tested the pressure and eventually figured it was low on gas...but in the process of testing the pressure after i filled it it was good..exept for the steady fuel pressure..which im not sure if its a problem...85 vette
thanx for any help
Fuel pressure should be lowest at idle 33# approx, full vacuum and highest at full throttle 43# approx, lack of vacuum. I would look at you vacuum source, they used plastic tubing in these that can melt or crack. Chances are it the source, if the regulator had a cracke diaphram fuel would leak through. If the seat in the regulator is bad then the fuel pressure would be lower than normal but still tend to fluctuate.
but my main question is...should the pressure stay at 44 pounds always???on/off, running, floored, idle
cause i seen on the book it says a 3-10 pound fluuxuation should be seen at idle if you have a vacum on your regulator..and it goes to the manifold....
could this be my problem,,i mean is it a problem that its not fluxin 3-10 pounds?does that mean i have a vacum problem?
