Went out to my car the other day and when I closed the door, the drivers window hit the halo panel (C pillar?). I took the door apart on Saturday and with the aid of the Service Manual, attempted to adjust the tip-in angle of the window. Well, something is really not right, as the window has a very pronounced angle to it, much more than the passenger side door. But no matter how much I adjusted the window in its track, the angle would not change and therefore the window will not sit proplery in the door. The door will not close w/o slamming it as the window contacts the top of the C pillar before the door closes. I am really pissed off about this -- anyone have any experience with this issue? I cannot believe the procedures in the manual are not sufficient to fix the window adjustment
I just got back from that trip. The front of your window has a "C" shaped guide that is bolted to the bottom of the window. It rides a rail (visible through the top of the door) up and down and keeps the window angle correct. Mine broke, and I had to special order from GM. You'll have to buy or borrow a maintenance manual to make all the adjustments, as they are way beyond the scope of this forum. Good luck with it - I finally got mine fixed and even got the paint on the A pillar touched up. Closes properly for first time since I've owned it.
I'll have the part number tomorrow for you. No, don't HAVE to remove door panel, but it was easier to take the fasteners out and let it hang so that you could work around it.
You might want to go into it to make sure it's broken. It may just have come loose, or the rail may have come loose, or (best scene) something else may just have worked loose.
OK 94vette. If you still need it, the part is labeled "Guide F D LH" and the GM part number is 10243037. I bought mine through GMPARTSDIRECT, but the part package had Flow Buick

on it. It took over 2 weeks to get it, but I suspect that's because it had to be shipped from NC to GMPARTSDIRECT then to me. You might try calling (I have no phone number) Flow Buick and see if they have another. It cost me about $8 plus about $4 shipping. It took me a full day to get mine adjusted, and there are no shortcuts, except to scribe a mark around fasteners before removing to give a good starting point for readjustment. Good luck with it.
