Default A/C question

Hi guys..I have a '91 coupe' with electronic A/C.
Is it possibile to make it blow air without having the compressor to kick in (this can be done in many other cars I drove. I simply have air that won't be cooled by the A/C but, at the same time, during winters, i can get hot air that passes through the engine itself)

Thanks..

You can un-plug the compressor. Connector is right on top, easy access

That is not what I was looking for anyway..do you know why the compressor does not kick in if i push the button that make blow the air through either the front vents or to the floor and in all the other cases i can hear the compressor kicking in?

When i run the heat in winter i dont hear the compressor running. I know what you mean about other cars. Most of em have a separate button for the compressor, so you can switch back and forth between vent fan, and A/C

I dont think the C68 works like that though

I have to disagree. Even if you need hot air the compressor must kick in anyway. Do you any clue about my other question?

When i set the temp to 90 in the winter the compressor does not run. If your's is running something is wrong.

Do you have a factory service manual? If not, you need to get one. ITs the best investment you'll make. It'll detail diagnostic procedures you can follow for problems like your's

The C68 Climate Control system is designed to use cooling air as well as heated air to maintain the temerature you set on the digital display. The system also performs automatic de-humidifying as part of the operation. So the A/C side runs to pull excess moisture out of the air even if the you set a high temp for winter driving. Even when you set the controls to the windshield defrost position, the A/C compressor runs.

The C60 Standard A/C system has a "Vent" position on the sliding lever that allows the system to take air from the inlets and pass it thru the car using one of the fan settings without having the A/C compressor operating.

I can't answer why yo don't hear the compressor when you select those buttons. On my 92 with C68, the compressor will kick in at any of the button settings if the temp I set is lower than the outside air temp.
