Default Converting to Dual Exhaust

[FONT=Comic Sans MS] I need advice. If I replace the stock system on my 87, do I have to replace the cats. The systems I've seen at several sites have spaces left where the pre-cats are now, but I would rather not put them back in. (we don't have emissions tests here) How do you plumb the sensors? Would this upset the ECM? Any help would be appreciated.[COLOR=RoyalBlue] :

While I was living in Hawaii, I ran mine without the cat or precats -- car ran great. When I received my orders to Utah and found out they had pretty strict emission and safety inspections, I put the cat back on, but not the pre's -- no problems (with the car or inspections)

Did you hook up the air tube that runs back to the main cat?

If I remember correctly, when we put the main cat back on, we re-ran the air tube as well--It was over two years ago, and it's not real easy to get under my car and look--sorry.

mid america has a true dual convertion but its only 2 1/4 inch pipe. i ran this for a few months and didnt like it. if you decide to go duals you will want to run an x-pipe to balance exhaust. it will sound and perform better.

for performance purposes you are better off going with headers into y- pipe and a nice cat back system.
