Pulled SES light on my 91 while the freeway tonight. Stopped at my destination, got out of the car for 10 minutes or so, fired back up (no SES) and drove home and still no SES. Pulled the code 32 (check EGR vacuum and electrical and the ECM electrical) I double checked the vacuum lines and the connections and they are all solid. ECM is new (2 months or so) and as far as I know, the EGR is original. Without throwing money at it by just replacing stuff, anyone have a solid lead on what else could be causing this?
Thanks
Subman
On my 91 I never got a code 32 until I started messing with the exhaust. When I went to bigger diameter y-pipes, no cats and 2 chamber Flows I started to get the dreaded intermittent code 32. I tried everything including replacing each piece of the EGR system and nothing I did would get rid of the code. I ended up having a custom chip burned which eliminated that code. I haven't seen a SES soon light since
I would check it out by the method on 665Z01's site, the light won't go on until the EGR is commanded for 4 minutes after the car is up to operating temperature. Going down the highway is a natural for it. My guess is the switch, but no need to guess if you just follow the steps on 65Z01's site
There is an EGR diagnostic method on my site; though since it's intermittent I would bet on a sticking EGR Valve.
GREETINGS,
I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN SEEING THE METHOD. CAN YOU POST THE LINK. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE EGR TEMP SENSOR CONNECTION IN MY 1988 VETTE APPEARS "LOOSE" IN THAT, THE CONNECTION IS TIGHT WHERE THE WIRE CONNECTS AT THE TOP BUT THE POST WHERE IT CONNECTS SPINS AROUND. I AM EXPERIENCING ROUGH IDLE AND THE CAR APPEARS TO ME "MISSING" WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND AFTER A TORENTIAL DOWNPOUR. I ALSO GET A CODE "34". ANY IDEAS?..THANKS!
