I went out after a few days of not driving the car and the battery was dead. The battery was about five years old, so, instead of jump starting it and possibly screwing something up, I just replaced it with a new one. My alternator is charging 13-14 volts and it will stay charged if I drive it every day. If I am gone for a few days, however, it is stone dead when I get back. I looked for all of the obvious stuff, (dome light on, under hood light etc..) What could be draining it? Any suggestions on how to trace it down? Thanks -Michael
Disconnect the battery positive.
Put a test lamp inline between the positive post & the positive wire.
If there is a draw the light will be on.It could be normal if its barely on depending on what size bulb is in the tester.
Then pull 1 fuze at a time, the bulb will go dim when you find the offending circuit.Read what the circuit works.
Does anything on that circuit not work?
Try the courtesy fuze first thats a common one to cause problems.

Yeah: I got the same problem. So far, replaced the battery & alternator, after the " professionals " at the chevy dealership where I bought it said that was the problem. Still does it.
